From the Altarklippen you have a wonderful view over the Granetalsperre to the Rammelsberg. For me it is one of the top 20 stamping points for the Harz hiking pin. The path up to the Altarklippen is easy to do - even by bike.

The "Trail of Stones" is a themed trail. He shows wonderful pictures and explains the development from the active quarry to today's natural habitat. Nature has recovered from the rock quarrying and the Wolfshäger forest has continued to develop. Until 1986, diabase rock was mined on a large scale in the Wolfshäger Forest. Around 25 million tons of rock removed left a follow-up area of more than 30 hectares. The buildings, facilities, paths and machines of the quarry have disappeared and have long been history.
