The route begins directly at the trailhead parking lot, located about 500 meters from the main road, and is clearly described on the information panel. In the eastern part, the coal was mined in opencast mines, in the western part underground at a depth of initially 29 meters and later 52 meters. The tunnels were driven over the opencast mine embankment. A first test shaft was dug in 1910 but closed again in 1911 due to the lack of a railway closure. With the purchase of the President pit in Schönfliess, the hitherto missing pit railway connection could be established and from 1922 the mining of coal in the Puck pit could begin. It was funded until 1926, when it was discontinued due to sales problems.
