The former manor house, designed like a castle, is around 150 years old. The neo-baroque style with elements of Art Nouveau goes back to older predecessor buildings. The nature park doesn't have naturally occurring heather, but rather a result of military use, i.e., fires caused by shelling and tank tracks. 🌾Today, we moved along the sandy ground, sometimes very spongily, and repeatedly looked out into the expanse of the purple and pink heathland. 🪲A few beetles crawled on the ground, their shells a brilliant blue. ⛔💣Once we took a turn too early, we suddenly found ourselves in front of a warning sign stating that this area was not to be entered because it was formerly used for military purposes (a firing range for the East German National People's Army). There are probably still tons of unexploded bombs buried underground.
