The fountain was created in 1913 by the Munich sculptor Adolf von Hildebrand and erected in 1921. It is made of shell limestone and is designed as a heptagonal dome. On top of the fountain stands Siegfried with his sword, which represents the scene of the dragon slayer from the legend.

In summer it's a wonderful place to cool down a bit in the heat. The "zigzag path" up the hill south of the stream is beautifully decorated with small animal figures.

The lightning tubes are a natural monument in the form of a mineralogical phenomenon in the sandstone wall below the Battenberg castle ruins. The Siegfried Fountain is a listed fountain in the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Worms. It is reminiscent of Siegfried the dragon slayer, one of the main characters in the Nibelungen saga.

Very nice but steep climb to the fountain. Gorgeous view from here. Slightly below there is a hut that occasionally hosts.

Absolute recommendation. I saw the flash tubes on ZDF's Terra X. So I wanted to hike and see them myself. Amazing what mother nature creates. ❤️
