The Offaquelle is a freshwater spring that is now located in the Schlei. It is connected to a legend about King Offa. He is said to have been the king of the Angles, a young but sick man who is said to have bathed in the spring here and thus regained his health. The town has had a fountain built on the beach in memory of the now silted-up spring.
