This ancient oak tree near Randlkofen is one of the largest trees in the Mainburg area. Its age is estimated at over 500 years. Not far from it, a beautiful bike path leads from Randlkofen to Mitterstetten.

On the edge of the Abenstal valley, in the east of the Dürnbuch forest, you will find a large field of sand dunes. At the end of the Pleistocene and in the early Holocene, a dry, cold climate with strong westerly winds favored the formation of drifting sand dunes. A large part of the dunes here are formed as line dunes, which are formed parallel to the prevailing wind direction in a west-east direction, but transverse and sickle dunes also occur. Viereckschanze is the name given to the remains of a mostly square area with a surrounding wall and ditch.

Rough terrain. Here, to the north, the route is only possible on foot. MTBers may have to shoulder their bike. There could be deadwood lying around. Alternatively, there is a path that leads left to the "Breitgeräumweg" This alternative route is not shown on the Komoot map!
