A true natural monument: This ancient oak tree has survived many storms and wars. With its imposing trunk and gnarled branches, it is a silent witness to history—and a perfect place to pause and marvel. The "wooden mother," as this natural monument is also known, has been determined to be 400 years old through tree-ring drilling.

The academic garden was not designed for representational purposes, but for teaching. The plan from 1783 drawn by the gardener Veit Bertele shows this very clearly: the garden was structured like a kitchen garden, with simple rectangular beds. As in a tabular overview, the plants were arranged here according to the applicable botanical system.
