The Riederstein (1207m) is a rock spur that can be seen from afar, approx. 150 meters above the Galaun Alm with the mountain inn there. Anyone who completes the well-known Stations of the Cross with its 14 display panels of Christ's suffering from 1897 and its approximately 500 steps definitely deserves a reward. The view of Tegernsee and the surrounding mountains from the small platform behind the chapel is definitely a worthy compensation for the effort.

When approaching from the Süßbach hiking car park, we recommend the T2 forest management route, the much better alternative to the signposted forest road. There are also several route variants between Galaun-Alm and Riederstein. We walked up the well-known Way of the Cross with its 14 display boards from 1897 on the Passion of Christ and its 500 steps.

Beautiful view. I hiked once from the Blomberg valley station and once from the Waldherr Alm to the Zwiesel. I liked the latter a lot better because the route is nicer, not so steep and above all not so crowded

Ideal now at the beginning of the season to build up your stamina for more difficult alpine tours. The summit is very easy to reach and it is not particularly strenuous. Due to the nature of the trail, it is also possible in snow and with children. At the top you have a great view. It is particularly beautiful at sunset at the summit, when you descend you can quickly get back on paved paths and thus without any danger even in the dark.

A peak with an interesting history: the 1,218 meter high foothills of the Alps near Bad Tölz were officially called Hitlerberg during the Nazi regime, and there was a huge wrought-iron swastika on the peak. In April 1945, villagers from Wackersberg dismantled it with the help of cutting torches, and since then the mountain has borne its old name, Heiglkopf, again. Nevertheless, decades later, the inconspicuous elevation could still be found on Google Maps as Hitlerberg, and the company only deleted the name after protests.

A classic in the Tölzer Oberland, very easy to walk and ideal for an after-work tour or alpine beginners. Nice view of the valley with Sonntratn / Geierstein on the other side. Can be easily combined with Blomberg / Zwiesel in a larger tour.
