The turnoff to the spring is somewhat inconspicuous, but marked with a signpost. It's small, but worth seeing, in my opinion.

The Schnerzhofer pond was bought by the Schöffel family, a textile entrepreneur, and is used for pond farming. The pond is occasionally drained in winter. In summer, you can swim in the pond. There is also a small lawn with a toilet and a bathing jetty on the north bank. Despite the overflow gap being rebuilt in 2008 for half a million euros, the floodwaters washed over the top of the pond in June 2024.

The castle pond in Burgwalden is a picturesque pond in the Augsburg - Western Forests Nature Park, about 20 kilometers southwest of Augsburg. It was created in the 16th century when the Augsburg patrician family Höchstetter built a moated castle, which no longer exists today. The pond originally served as a water source for the castle and for fish farming. Today the castle pond is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. There are well-developed hiking trails around the pond that lead through the idyllic landscape of the western forests. The "castle and church tour" is particularly recommended, an easy hike of about 7 kilometers that leads past the castle pond. Near the pond is the Church of Our Lady and St. Francis, which was built by the Höchstetter family in 1513. Opposite the church, the Burgwalden forest restaurant invites you to stop for a break. The castle pond is not only a place to relax, but also an important biotope. It provides habitat for numerous animal and plant species and contributes to the biodiversity of the region.

The Celtic square ramparts "Brennburg" are now considered by archaeologists to be the centre of a rural settlement structure in Celtic times. They were built in the late La Tène period, i.e. around the middle of the 2nd century, and were abandoned again when the Romans arrived. They had no military function. Within the still impressive ramparts and ditches, which are still very well preserved at the Brennburg, there was probably an ensemble of residential and storage buildings, perhaps a small cult building and one or more wells. There was only one entrance in a gap in the rampart and a wooden bridge over the ditch, and perhaps even an imposing gatehouse. The earthwork lies on a step in the terrain of a spur of the Schalkenberg at a height of around 527 m. The ground plan of the Brennburg is almost square, the east side (102 m) is slightly shorter than the west flank (112 m). The northern wall is 113 m long, the southern wall measures 109 m. According to the terrain, the gate was in the south. The maximum height of the wall (measured from the bottom of the ditch) is about 2.5 m. The wall is interrupted by a few modern cuts. If you are coming from Tussenhausen, just don't drive up the mountain road. It lives up to its name. The further course of the cycle path towards Markt Wald is also not recommended. The terrain is quite rough
