The descent down to Bad Ems is very hard on the knees. A walking stick and non-slip shoes are also highly recommended, especially when the slate-rich ground is wet.

Here there is a short piece of rock face with many holes. Since they are the size of a head, they are ideal for “Heinzelmännchen”. The rock consists of karst and the small caves were created by erosion.

An idyllic and quiet place... Very nice ! The paths around the pond(s) are not suitable for touring bikes. Get off and explore on foot... simply beautiful!
