The history of the Degenershausen Landscape Park began in 1834, when Brunswick Councillor Johann Christian Degener acquired the area between Neuplatendorf and the nursery of Falkenstein Castle and gave it to his daughter Amalie as a wedding gift when she married Chamberlain Hans-Constantin von Bodenhausen. Councillor Degener tied this gift to the stipulation that the newly formed town be called Degenershausen, and he documented the fact that the name "Degener" would be included in his daughter's noble name and that a monument would be erected in his legacy. In 1835, Johann Christian Degener had the manor house and the associated outbuildings built, as well as the park laid out. After his death, a striking cast-iron obelisk was erected in his honor, but it had to be demolished in 1968 due to severe damage. In 1993, it was rebuilt on its original site as part of the extensive park renovation. The park has undergone many changes over the years and, after extensive renovation and reconstruction work, was reopened to the public in 1995. The landscape park in Degenershausen, idyllically situated in the Harz Mountains Nature Reserve, blends seamlessly into the charming landscape. The park currently covers an area of 12 hectares and is home to over 175 genera and species of native and exotic woody plants. It is a gem of garden architecture and dendrology, offering visitors peace and relaxation through its spacious grounds. The spaciousness of the park is immediately noticeable at the main entrance. Paths totaling 2.8 kilometers in length, some of which are wheelchair accessible, crisscross the park. Groups of trees and meadows alternate. Flowering meadows, well-tended trees and groups of trees, and a small pond, the park's blue eye, invite you to linger. The site of the former botanical garden now houses a 1200 m² perennial display and trial garden with a variety of international plant varieties. Degenershausen is easily accessible by car and open daily to visitors free of charge. Special highlights in park life are the annual Park Festival (beginning of June) and the Music Summer (in August).

Modeled on the obelisk in Mägdesrpung, it is a memorial to the founder, Amtsrat J.C. Degenerate this area of his daughter to the wedding with the Royal Prussian Chamberlain Freiherr von Bodenhausen.

The Domburg is located in the middle of a wonderfully beautiful deciduous forest. An information board with the history of the castle can also be found, as well as seating. Very nice hiking trail from the Heteborn cemetery car park.

In the Degenershausen landscape park, the monument contractually agreed upon by the Degener official during his lifetime was also erected after his death, a cast-iron obelisk. This was demolished in 1968 due to severe damage and only rebuilt in 1993 in the same place.
