A very beautiful hike along the Literature Trail leads from Köstendorf through the beautiful forest up to the summit cross. The view was very rewarding despite the dark rain clouds 🤩👍, and would certainly be even more breathtaking in the sunshine.

The whole area is truly worth seeing. Be careful at the corner: if someone walks or drives around quickly, you'll end up in an awkward collision.

Gnadenbründl

The Warstein is a real knockout. The stone is 700 meters long, 80 meters wide and 50 meters high in the landscape and protrudes into the lake. You can cycle around it or take a break and climb up briefly. At the top you will find the Warstein Chapel on the west side or you can enjoy the view of the lake all the way to the northern Limestone Alps from the Steinspitz.

It's going up quite a bit. But the view at the top is worth the effort. Even if the inn is closed, you can simply sit down on the bench by the big cross and enjoy the silence, the wonderful landscape all around and the view of the Wallersee.

In recent times, the spring has less and less water. That's probably why the sign was removed. During my visit on April 23, 2022, a little water flowed again. We washed our eyes with it and hope to improve our eyesight.

For the Upper Austrian State Exhibition 2012, the entire square including the castle was subjected to a thorough renovation. Today a remarkable ensemble of castle, church, Kneipp fountain and 35 meter high sequoia tree.
