The road over the Geschriebenstein is the highest pass in Burgenland. The northern ascent from Lockenhaus is subjectively more beautiful, with a steep start, but then it is easy and evenly rideable. The asphalt is good, there is usually little traffic, and the descent to Rechnitz allows for high speeds - but be careful of the steep passage before entering the town. There are cafés in Lockenhaus and Rechnitz for a short break.

If you're planning to explore this area by bike, on a run, or while hiking, make sure to bring your own Merlot. The region is known for its stunning views and outdoor activities, but finding a good spot to enjoy a glass of wine can be a challenge. very idyllic rest area with a wonderful view

Already mentioned in a document in 1674, the Magdalenenkapelle was built in the last quarter of the 17th century over a spring that is said to have healing powers. The spring water is said to have numerous miraculous healings. On the lower floor of the two-story building, water can be drawn from a pump well. When I was here, however, the well was covered. Presumably wintering? Right next to it there is a resting place and an information board with further information about the chapel and the church of St Katharina, which is a little below.

A challenge for Kraxler. Some natural caves in the form of crevices with imposing rock formations. However, they are not directly on the way. To do this, you have to climb up through impassable, partly alpine terrain. The rock formations in particular are remarkable. When you stand underneath and look up, it's a very special feeling.

A natural cave in the middle of the forest. But the name - propagated on the web - is a little misleading. This one probably just made it to the name "cave". It is correct that this is a geological depression. But it is not accessible. A few probably badger burrows near the cave are a little deeper. But the area is extremely interesting. All around there should have been a depression once, which indicates a cavity under this area. It is definitely worth stopping by.
