History: Between 1977 and 1979, the sculptor Walfried Huber from Bad Pirawarth created this monument, commissioned by the family of Dr. Gerhard and Elsa Pranka from Gaweinstal, which illustrates the idea of the solidarity of peoples. At the time of its erection, the neighboring states of Czechoslovakia and Hungary were still separated from Austria by the impermeable Iron Curtain. Even if humans set arbitrary borders, these can easily be overcome by the eyes and mind. Description: The Schricker Berg viewing point is the highest elevation in the area. From there, one can see as far as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. Three interlocking stone blocks made of gray Waldviertel marble, the middle one resembling a finger pointing to the solidarity of peoples, stand as a memorial stone at this vantage point. The monument is 4.20 m high and 1.90 m wide. A plaque placed next to the monument explains the motivations of Dr. Pranka's family for having this memorial erected here. Source: Marterl.at

In the Zistersdorf pine forest there is a brick spring with a relief of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Below it you can read his motto "Viribus Unitis" (= With united forces). To the left and right of the relief are the years of his 60-year reign, 1848 and 1908. On the profiled cover plate there is a sandstone vase on the left and right of the main part. Above the base part there is a cornice made of unplastered and slanted bricks. On the lower side part there are two sandstone balls. [marterl.at]

THE WITCH CIRCLE OF KETTLASBRUNN. On the road to Blumenthal there is an ancient, mighty picture pine, because its trunk is adorned with an old painted wooden panel with purgatory. This is said to have been the assembly point of the witches, who came from all over the area and from here flew through the air to the dance area in the upper Zayatal to the field mill. When the image of the poor souls was attached to the pine, the witches stopped coming. In the area around the field mill it should not be advisable to drive by at night. Usually the horses get shy and stop so that there is nothing left but to turn back. Often you can also hear “beautiful music” there, which is supposed to come from the witch's dance floor. The picture pine, a white pine, carried a wooden picture depicting the group of crosses with Maria and Johannes under the cross, which was renovated in 1966 by the Dietrich family. The pine did not withstand the storm Emma, it fell victim to the storm. Seeds were taken from the pine tree, grown, planted and surrounded with a grid for protection. A pine tree should thrive again at the old location. The roots were dug up and piled up on site as a reminder. The trunk of the picture pine was relocated to the tree circle as a souvenir. The picture tube was created according to an old witch's legend. Source: http://www.marterl.at/index.php?id=23&type=1&oid=6279

Landscape garden with geological features Nexing Castle, built in the English Tudor style, is located in the middle of the rolling hills of the Weinviertel. Right behind it is a romantic landscape garden that was built in 1802. When the garden was created, there was an orangery and numerous flowers, shrubs and fruit. Since the interwar period, the complex has increasingly fallen into disrepair until the Urani family made the garden accessible to the public again. "You could still see the paths, but they were completely overgrown," remembers Peter Urani. Grotto-like rock parts and a bridge made of roughly hewn boulders are still preserved from the decorative structures. The real attraction is the Nexing Shell Hill: a huge, approx. 12.5 to 13.5 million year old collection of shells from the Sarmatian period. "Geologists from faraway countries don't know Austria, but they do know Nexing," says Mr. Urani about the uniqueness. “A fossil wonder from a scientific point of view and worth seeing for all visitors!” The dried-out pond landscape has also been revitalized and is now managed by Mr. Urani as a carp farm. Visitors can enjoy their specialties in the “Oase am Teich” inn. Pretty double rooms or camping options invite you to stay longer. Typical elements of the Weinviertel are found in the design of the veltlinerland tree circle. So the inscription for the individual trees was placed on simulated steam pipe stones. In the access area, a show wine garden with seven different varieties of Veltliners was planted, which offers visitors an insight into viticulture. There is also an original vineyard hut, as was typical in the Weinviertel. It should also be mentioned that the facility is well maintained. The press house on the layout has been expanded into a self-service room that is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. In addition to alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, there are also little things to eat such as bread, sausages, spreads and sweets. There is also enough seating and a toilet 100m away.
