Great climb, difficult but the view more than makes up for it

A tough climb at the beginning. Then it becomes a bit more pleasant but still challenging. Great views and a magnificent panorama at the top of the pass quickly make the exertion forgotten. And finally, a thrilling descent awaits.

On the ten-kilometer climb, you'll gain 1,000 meters in elevation. The Roßfeld Panorama Road is relatively quiet, making the climb very pleasant. A spectacular panorama, a restroom, and a place to stop for refreshments await you at the summit.

A panoramic road in the truest sense of the word

It is located between the Salzburger Hochthron (1,853 m above sea level) in the north and the Raucheck (1,891 m above sea level) in the south at an altitude of 1,671 m above sea level. A. right on the border between Austria and Germany. Crossing the Untersberg from the Berchtesgadener to the Salzburger Hochthron is one of the most beautiful tours in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The varied path leads over the extensive high plateau with its huge sinkholes - an extraordinary landscape that is second to none.

The Hochkalter is 2607 meters high, making it the king of the mountains in most villages in the Alps. In the mountaineering village of Ramsau, however, he has to deal with the role of crown prince, because the neighboring Watzmann is too powerful. But the Hochkalter has a lot to offer for mountaineers and hikers: At its feet are the magic forest and Hintersee, halfway up the summit the Schärtennalm and the Blaueishütte with its legendary cakes. Between the peaks of the Hochkalter massif lies the Blaueis, the northernmost glacier in the Alps and the only one in the Berchtesgaden National Park.
