ここにあるKöhlerhütte（炭焼き小屋）は、今日ではほとんど消滅してしまった古代の職業を訪問者に伝えています。しかし、かつては広大な地域の産業化において決定的な要因でした。例えば、鉄鋼産業の高炉は、鉱石を溶かすのに必要な作動温度を達成するために木炭に依存していました。その結果、かつては炭焼きによって広大な地域全体が完全に森林破壊されましたが、後の植林活動のおかげで再び森が形成され、自然を見ることができるようになりました。

At 40.7m high, the pilgrim's cross is the largest walkable wooden cross in the world! The relatively steep climb is rewarded with a magnificent view. A wonderful place to linger.

May 25, 2024: We wanted to climb the Fölzstein today. We discovered the circular hiking trail via the Stoamandlweg. As an inexperienced hiker, this path is very dangerous. There are always exposed rocks to pass. Not to mention that the path is not signposted. We then used the path from the Fölzkogel to the Grasserhütte as a descent, which had slipped over the winter. It was quite difficult to find an alternative path due to the slope. We had to keep passing snow fields. The terrain was sloping in this area. I wouldn't do this hike again at the moment. A very high level of sure-footedness is required.

The incredible view is the true reward for the climb. If the visibility is good, you can see the Zirbitzkogel (border with Carinthia). Ötscher, Hochkar, Großer Priel, Hochtor, Eisenerzer Reichenstein and many more show themselves from their best side.
