Here the Old Rhine flows into Lake Constance (Rhine Delta).

The Rhine Delta is a characteristic marsh landscape. The area includes the mouth of the Rhine into Lake Constance, the largest freshwater delta in Europe. The Old Rhine forms the western border, and the area is bordered in the east by the Dornbirner Ache.

The most possible point to approach is where the Old Rhine flows into Lake Constance at the Rheinspitz.

The short path here leads over roots and can only be done on foot from the main path.

The Rhine delta of Lake Constance is the river delta on the south-eastern shore of Lake Constance, which the Rhine formed in a former lake area. It lies mostly in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg, with smaller areas lying in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. The two peninsulas in the lake are called Rheinspitz (to the west) and Rohrspitz (to the east). After the retreat of the Rhine glacier after the last glacial period, Lake Constance was formed, which originally extended further south in the area of the Rhine valley. There is a tennis club on the Polderdamm in Fussach. A young couple runs a small restaurant there, the Kostbar. Highly recommended and right on the bike path.
