A special treasure of the Eifel National Park is the open land on the Dreiborn Plateau. Here, there are grasses, broom, hawthorn bushes, and many animal species that need precisely this. The endangered skylark, for example, lives and breeds in the open landscape. That's why it's so important that we humans stay exclusively on marked trails and do not disturb the breeding grounds of sensitive species off the trails 🐣. Over time, the open land becomes overgrown with shrubs and isolated trees 🌳. To prevent the open land from disappearing completely, certain areas are mowed late in the year (after the breeding season). According to international criteria (IUCN Category II), such "management" is permitted in the long term on up to 25% of a national park's area. The most important "rules" for protecting nature: Stay on official trails, do not make fires or make noise, keep dogs on leashes, and take your trash with you. Thank you for your understanding! 💚

There is a football and basketball court for children and adults, so be sure to bring a ball. There is also a pump track, which is a lot of fun. The pump track is easy to ride on a mountain bike, BMX, etc. There is also a fitness stadium and a great playground. There is also a snack bar, an egg shop and supermarkets nearby. Auelsburg is well worth a visit.👍

The Mühlensee is a retention basin, but is also intended to be used for recreational purposes. At the moment, however, the lake appears to belong to a fishing club.

There is a large playground and a large beer garden in the mill park. Great for a break.

The park owes its name to a derelict moated castle. Today's park was created in the 1990s and now includes a playground, a skate park and dog parks directly on the Veybach.

Very nice trail that splits into three possible trails after 150 meters. The one on the far left is relatively easy and the middle one is a bit more challenging, while the one on the right is for more experienced riders. The beginning is easy after two starts and builds up a lot of speed, you don't need to brake here and you can take small jumps with you. The trail is good for advanced riders and maybe also for aspiring pros. Definitely recommended if you're in the area.
