The entrance to the heath area is beautifully designed. Motorized hikers are informed by timely signs about the parking facility, which is located directly at the entrance area.

The Karower Teiche are an approximately 129-hectare nature reserve in the north-east of Berlin. It consists of the following ponds: duck pond, reed pond, willow pond and island pond. In all waters you can observe wonderful breeding and resting water and reed birds. Information boards will help you identify each species.

The NSG is an important resting and breeding area for waterfowl and reed breeders, but species of hedges and forest edges such as oriole, barred warbler, whinchat and stonechat are also native here.

Beautiful nature experiences are possible there. There are several viewing platforms. Sometimes buffalo and Heck cattle can also be seen.

Good spot for bird watchers.

From the S-Bahn station Zepernick (S2), the large wooden entrance portal to the Schönower Heide can be reached after about four kilometers. The approximately five-kilometer circular hike offers atmospheric impressions at any time of the year, especially in late summer the purple of the heather blossom.

Just 30 years ago, the area of today's Moorlinse was dry. There was already a sink, but water only began to collect there in 1996. The reason for this was that the Buch waterworks reduced its production, so that layer water collected. In addition, water drainage pipes in this area were becoming more and more silted up and clogged, meaning that water could no longer drain away. With the first water in the bog lens came the first amphibians and birds. The higher the water rose, the more biodiversity increased. Toads, frogs, lizards and grass snakes live there today. Countless birds breed on the Moorlinse or rest there.

From the S-Bahn station Zepernick (S2) the large wooden entrance portal of the Schönower Heide can be reached in about 4 km. Car parking spaces are also available
