We started in the rain at the Verpeil Hut. At this altitude, the rain turned into sleet. CAUTION! There was a large rockfall to the right of the steel ladders that day. We had to abort the tour and turn back. Other hikers also reported that one of the two ladders was loose. Caution and alpine experience are essential!

Please note that the tunnel may be closed seasonally and not accessible during these periods. This is currently the case, as of the beginning of July 2025, as the tunnel is (again) being used for irrigation purposes. Unfortunately, this information is only available on a notice board at the entrance or at the junction with the waterway.

The official road to the glacier gate is still in ruins. The plank over the river is still the only way to continue the way, but beware that this plank is loose: really for daredevils. By the way, the road to it is very beautiful, so it is definitely worth walking to the plank and then turning around.

In 2019, it was easy to climb, even without climbing equipment. However, sure-footedness is required.

I am trying to explain this route. It says everywhere that a lot of alpine experience is required. We do have a lot of hiking experience and also experience with via ferrata but not at t5 level. Can someone tell me if this is possible?

As of October 2024, it is still only accessible to the daredevils. Only a jump on wet stones or balancing on a 4 m long narrow beam would have brought us to the other side of the stream.
