While the 147-hectare Ohligs Heath was still in very poor condition in the 1970s, after more than twenty years of maintenance and development measures, it is now one of the most valuable protected areas of the Bergisch Heath Terrace. Today, it is once again characterized by wet and dry heathland in the open areas, by birch fen forests and alder swamp forests in the damp depressions, and by pine and oak forests on the sandy ridges. Three streams, numerous small pools, and a larger pond provide habitat for amphibians and rare dragonfly species, such as the Lesser Bluetit. A new break area should be set up in this beautiful place, because the existing one is very “out of date”. But it's really worth spending a while here, like most, over 200!!! 🥴 prove uploaded photos. My conclusion: Less is often more 😉

A great place to visit when the weather is nice. To linger, put your feet in the water, watch canoeists, etc... Now unfortunately there is a risk of flooding again 🙄
