Thanks for the very good tip! Very cool trail and almost right on your doorstep! The route is a bit demanding, if you like it you can prove yourself on at least 2 "courage descents". I was thrilled.. And I'll be back soon, then in the opposite direction and later on time😉 PS.: I've been there once before, but I couldn't find the entrance, I was under time pressure.. That's why I was twice as happy today😁

There are now trees in very unfavorable places on the trail, didn't find it particularly good to ride the gravel bike. Okay, may also have been due to the decent incline. ;)

The Gamengrund is a prominent, 300 to 400 meter wide glacial channel that cuts through the Barnim's ground moraine surface. It begins south of Eberswalde and runs to Hirschfelde. Due to its very strong form, it is an important geotope for Brandenburg and has been designated as a landscape protection area. The Gamengrund emerged from a tunnel valley in which meltwater from the overlying ice sheet made its way under the ice. The shooting range in Katharinenholz near Bornim is over 200 years old. It was created from 1810 for the 1st Foot Guards Regiment, but over time more and more units received their rifle training there. Around 1900 there were eight shooting lanes of 300 and 600 meters in length. Because there were always complaints about bullets flying around, the first bullet traps were set up in 1872. In the beginning, these were simple, seven meter high earthen walls. In 1890/1891 the first solid brick bullet traps followed. The shooting range was used until 1960, most recently by the Russians.
