The Powerline climb is an infamous uphill during the later stages of the Leadville 100 mile run. This steep dirt road is a common training ground for those getting ready to race at 10,000 feet. The road tops out at Sugarloaf Pass (roughly 11,200 feet) where the road and Colorado Trail intersect.

Climbing Independence Pass eastwards from Aspen is a bucket-list journey to the Continental Divide, reaching an extreme altitude of 12,095ft, making it one of North America's highest paved passes. Prepare for a very long 18-20 mile and challenging climb gaining over 4000ft; while the average grade is moderate at 4-5%, expect long, sustained climbing sections particularly above the tree line, likely averaging 6-8% in parts, amplified significantly by the thin air. Along the route you'll see the stunning transition through beautiful aspen groves to breathtaking alpine tundra vistas. Be aware that services are non-existent between Aspen and Twin Lakes so be self-sufficient and check the road status before attempting the climb.

At 11,319 feet, Freemont Pass is one of the highest roads in Colorado. It connects the towns of Copper Mountain and Leadville.

Tennessee Pass sits just off Highway 24 at an elevation of 10,424 feet and designates the separation of the Mosquito and Sawatch mountain ranges. Tennessee Pass is most known as a training ground for the 10th Mountain Division during World War II.

At 11,318 feet, Fremont Pass is the high point between Summit County and Leadville. The pass tops out at the entrance of the Climax Mine, which is the largest operating mine in the area. You get views of both the Tenmile Range and the Mosquitos from the top (on a clear day, you can even see some of the Sawatch peaks).
