On the first look it seems to be a unspectacular waterfall - but as the water runs down a rockslide for about 100 ft or so and ends in a shallow pool with a bank of sand it makes for a better experience than some of the larger waterfalls nearby. I highly recommend to make it an out and back from Mac’s Gap Trail instead of approaching it from Deep Gap Trail or Wilderness Falls Trail because these two are basically not blazed, very muddy, heavily overgrown, have a lot of spur/side trails and without App/GPS do have segments that are hard to navigate because of this. Furthermore you would need to cross the creek through knee deep water.

Short, steep path from the visitor center parking lot to the lookout point with a magnificent view. It's worth it!

Whitewater Falls is 411 ft high, being the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. The upper platform is the best place to spot amazing views of the waterfall. Due to the humidity that comes from the falls the surrounding vegetation is very diverse, with many wildflowers, salamanders, and berries, depending on the season. The parking lot can be quite busy depending on the day and season, and there is a parking fee of $3 that can only be paid in cash.

Located at Milepost 450.2 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Yellow Face Overlook offers wide open views of the surrounding mountains. It is pointed directly towards the 6,032-foot summit of the mountain Yellow Face, but you can also see rows of mountains in the background.

The Lickstone Ridge Overlook can be found at Milepost 458.9 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The overlook is overgrown in spots, but there are still a few views of the mountains outside of Cherokee, North Carolina. There are also some informational signs about the Indian tribes that used to inhabit the area.

The Big Witch Overlook (Milepost 461.9) is a popular stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It peers out at a couple long mountain ridges that block any views of mountains further behind. If pedaling uphill, you really start to notice the elevation gain around this area, as this viewpoint tops out at 4,160 feet.
