One of Arizona's most popular cycling roads, Gates Pass will not disappoint! The climb and descent are incredibly scenic, offering views of the Tucson area's unique landscape and access to the Desert Museum. Be extra careful of cars and motorcycles during high season as the road can be narrow at times.

Cycling SOBO, views open up towards the Santa Catalina Mountains. Keep peddling and climbing; eventually, you'll reach the top of them at Mount Lemmon.

From Shreve Saddle you have a breathtaking view to the Santa Catalina Mountains and into Pine Canyon. At this point the Molino Basin Trail and the Sycamore Reservoir Trail meet. The Arizona Trail winds its way very scenically along the rim of the mountain.

What does not kill you, makes you stronger. This is so true on the hike up from Romero Pass to Mount Lemmon along the Arizona Trail. This section of the trail defines the word "steep" totally new. Sometimes you will have to crawl on your feet and hands. But keep going, the landscape "up there" is gorgeous and worth the hard effort. By the way: you have a unique view from here and there is also a tiny spot for cowboy camping.

Tucson Mountain Park was established April 1929. The Pima County Parks Commission, with C. B. Brown as its chairman, was established to oversee the park. At approximately 20,000 acres, the park is one of the largest natural resource areas owned and managed by a local government in the U.S. The park has approximately 62 miles of non-motorized shared-use trails. The park’s trails are open to hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers, and provide a wide range of outstanding experiences, including technical challenges, and breathtaking views. Gates Pass overlook includes interpretive displays and historic structures. Picnicking and wildlife viewing opportunities are located throughout the park. https://webcms.pima.gov/cms/One.aspx?pageId=1539
