It’s the easiest trailhead to get to. Some cars won’t make it coming from the east. It’s also the starting and ending point of the 24hHOP.

Lost Goldmine is a 3-mile black diamond single track near Gold Canyon, with a 437-ft climb and awesome views of the Superstition Mountains. It’s a tough ride with no man-made features, but the scenery makes it worth it. The trail is multi-use, so watch out for hikers and horses. You can park at the east end of Cloudview Road—just remember, no water or restrooms, so come prepared! You can find other short MTB trails connected to this one and do your own path exploring the area.

You will find a few dozen miles of great tracks around Fortified Peak. This is where the TMC Health 24h in the Old Pueblo, one of the largest 24h mountain biking event in the world, takes place. A fun, wide, trail that can be ridden in either direction, Hedgehog is sure to leave a smile on your face. The desert scenery is great and definitely attracts a lot of hikers so be sure to be kind to your fellow trail users.

This is a good XC trail for beginners, but offers enough to keep things interesting for more experienced riders as well. Since it makes nearly a full loop around the park you can make your ride as long or as short as you want by linking with other trails or taking a shortcut back to the parking lot. Just be sure you know what route you want to take so you don't end up on a trail that offers more challenging terrain than you are able to handle.

There are a lot of different trails at San Tan Mountain Regional Park, and each one has their own feel. The Hedgehog Trail definitely feels a lot like a mountain bike trail with all of its tight curves and packed surface. This is a really smooth trail compared to some of the other trails in the park.
