A beautiful spot, with a natural pool to cool off in. You just can't stay there overnight. There's a nearby campervan area upstream with restrooms. You can pitch your tent there.

This measuring point marks the highest point of the Rocha da Pena at 479 metres above sea level. The view is simply fantastic in clear weather and extends southwards to the Atlantic coast.

Portugal is the world leader in cork production. More than 50% of the world's cork products come from Portugal. The south-west European climate is perfectly suited to this tree. That is why Portugal has a very high population of cork oaks.

The rock massif of Rocha dos Soidos rises about 10 km northeast of Alte. The 467 m high cliffs fall on the north side so the most beautiful view of the massif is from the north side.

The central portion of the Rocha da Pena route is a ridge where you can observe both the landscape to the north and the landscape to the south. It is possible to develop your run well at this point, paying attention to loose rocks and other irregularities in the ground.

Very close to Ameixal is Fonte da Seicera. A very well maintained site with a small water mirror, normally called "piescina". There is a beautiful picnic area with barbecue facilities and a bathroom, as well as several walking trails around.

Wonderful little paths through the thicket. Sometimes you have to struggle through something. Sturdy shoes are definitely recommended. The descent in particular is otherwise not very safe.
