This is a place where you can take a break on your bike ride and enjoy the wings of history and beautiful nature. Kalkbro is a disused lime quarry that was used for the blast furnaces that were located in the area from the Middle Ages until the 1940s. A flora that benefits from lime grows here and it is exciting to enter the old lime quarry through the cut in the rock. There is also a beautiful nature trail that goes in a circular loop past Dammsjön. There is also a toilet here! There are also tables, benches and a fireplace where you can grill your packed lunch.

The paths were very muddy after the rain and in some places we were knee-deep in water. Still, it's a nice round

The ravine is lush and moist with few equivalents in the county. Along the river and under the shade of the trees, many interesting plants spread out. You can follow a marked loop that runs along the northern part of the gorge. The circular loop takes you to Lake Misteln, where there is a small barbecue area. The ravine is one of the county's most interesting plant locations. Everywhere in the Nytorps Ravine you can see grove plants sprouting from the thicket. Here you can find spring pea, lungwort, yellow sedge, two leaves and teabast. Large populations of ostrich ferns can be found along the circular loop. The abundance of flowers is greatest in spring, but the reserve is also worth visiting later in the season. Thanks to the marked circular loop, you can easily make your way along the gorge and experience its lush greenery. The Nytorps Ravine begins in the west at Lake Älvsjön and meanders eastward into Lake Misteln. In the far north, there is a roughly 100-year-old spruce forest with a very special flora, including gorse, northern sedge, spring wheat and ostrich bracken. Otherwise, it is mainly deciduous trees such as alder, birch and aspen that grow around the stream. On some of the old trees along the stream there is a rich and rare lichen flora with, among other things, reddish-brown pale spike and lung lichen. Here and there trees have fallen or stand dead as tall stumps. The dead trees must remain because dead wood is important for many of the forest's animals and plants. The trees decay and over time provide nourishment for new plants that sprout in the forest.

Herröknanäs consists of a peninsula that flows into Lake Misteln. Do visit if you are interested in flowers, enjoy bird watching or just want to wander around the beautiful and open grasslands. The nature reserve consists of two heights with mountains in the day. Between these heights lies a low-lying area that is almost always flooded in the spring. The wetlands are appreciated by many birds and here you can see redshanks, tufted whippets and common snipe. The large oaks are a home for many species. Many fungi, lichens, insects and other animals live on and around the oaks. Among other things, the unusual leather beetle thrives in the reserve. It lives as a larva for most of its life inside the hollow oaks. After three or four years, the caterpillar transforms into a beetle, and then it is in a hurry to find a partner to mate with. As a fully grown beetle, it lives only a few weeks in the summer. Getting a glimpse of a leather beetle is difficult. But if you smell dried plums or leather in a hollow old oak tree, you can be pretty sure a leather beetle lives there.

The Kammarstenen on the farm Ånhammars mark, in Gryts parish, is a popular destination for families with children. Kammarsten is a huge moving block. As an extra bonus, when you're still at the Kammarstenen (and the children want to keep playing), you can go down to the Järnaån, which flows south of the moving block. On the road bridge over the river, on sunny days you can see a multitude of wonderfully blue-sparkling maidenhairs. There are Blue damselflies with completely blue wings and Blue-banded damselflies which have transparent wings except for a jewel-sparkling blue wing patch.
