Former volcano, Montpeloux (Mont Poilu), after being topped by a medieval castle dismantled by order of Richelieu was exploited as a basalt quarry. With the quarry closed, there are still beautiful cliffs of basalt prisms (or organs) plunging 60 meters into a lake. Festival and shows take place on the stage set up on the lake.

Nearby an old railway track converted into a mountain bike path, you will find this dolmen. I met there a nice familly with a young girl and they were all riding their mountain bikes. The daaddy kindly took this picture.
