The port is the "heart and center of the city" - the baroque port with lock directly in the historic old town of Bad Karlshafen! You could use this route as a kernel for building various picturesque trials. Some will be an easy riding along the left and right banks of the Weser. For a little challenge in a way of the 11Km uphill without flat patches (Boffzen - Neuhaus im Solling, L549) and the 12Km downhill with the same no flat parts (Neuhaus im Solling Fohlenplackener Str. - Holzminden). Fürstenberg are a one of the oldest (third) porcelain manufacturer in Germany, museum castle. Bevern Castle was built by the nobleman Statius von Münchhausen (1.5Km from Holzminden). A bit more ahead and you’ll visit Baron Munchausen place. On a way back along the Weser bank (flat cycling road) you could pass the land of Cinderella (Polle). Schloss/Kloster Corvey (1Km from Höxter, but riding along Weser it’s not far than hundreds meters) has UNESCO granted World Heritage status. Poet August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben wrote the lyrics of the national anthem of Germany. In1860 he was appointed librarian to Victor I, Duke of Ratibor at the monasterial castle of Corvey, where he died in 1874(monument is in Höxter). So you could find something for your interest.
