Heimeli Mountain Inn, Sapün, Langwies The Heimeli is a house steeped in history. A house full of life and adventure. History tells us that the Heimeli has been an inn since 1907. What we do know is that Agnes Engel came to the Heimeli as a young girl back then, because she was supposed to take the waters in the mountain air. So, there was already something like an inn at that time. The Heimeli only truly became an inn in the 1920s. Much from that era would have long since been forgotten had Agnes not recorded it in her little book. In "At the Foot of the Chüpfenflue," Agnes Engel writes about her time at the Heimeli. She writes about the 200-year-old Walser house, which she wanted to care for and turn into a hotel. She writes about building permits and the problems that come with a renovation at this altitude, about issues concerning water and electricity – just like today. A challenging climb with beautiful scenery and virtually no motorized traffic. However, it's only partially recommended for road bikes, as it's a dead end and the ruts in the concrete on the descent are annoying and spoil the fun.
