The historic Wartensee Castle, dating from the 13th century, is located on the Rorschacherberg hill. It also features a historic chapel, and the castle itself houses a Gothic hall. From the beautiful garden terrace, one has a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Constance.

The Steinerburg ruins are a listed building. See photo for description. There is a very nice barbecue area near the ruins.

After the climb, the trip to the castle is worth it for the view. Great view over the lake.

Wartensee Castle is located on a hill in Rorschacherberg above Lake Constance. It is surrounded by a large park and was once the country estate of a wealthy family. The history of the castle goes back to the 13th century. Its current form was achieved through a renovation in the 19th century. Only then did it acquire its current style, characterized by neo-Gothic elements. Today Wartensee Castle is used as a hotel and event location.

Well-preserved castle on the mountainside above Rorschach with keep made of sandstone blocks and adjacent residential buildings. The probably in the 12th century. The complex that was founded was the residence of the Knights of Rorschach until 1449 and then served as the bailiwick seat of the St. Gallen princedom. The castle chapel donated in 1509 in honor of St. Anne helped Rorschach Castle to get its current name «St. Anna Castle». It has been privately owned since 1805.
