The surroundings of the lake are ideal for hiking and nature watching. The route to Lake Truchillas is approximately 7 kilometres long and offers spectacular views of the Eria River valley and the typical vegetation of the area, such as heather and juniper. In addition, it is possible to spot diverse fauna, including deer, wild boar and birds of prey such as the golden eagle.

Beautiful place! It is worth going up to the Truchillas lake (natural monument) to enjoy this excellent picture. If we are in good shape, it is worth continuing up to the Vizcodillo peak (2,121 m) and then running down the mountain to see the Malicioso Lagoon, which is smaller but just as impressive.

Located to the east of the province of Ourense, the Pena Trevinca mountains are a protected natural space that occupies almost 25,000 hectares. Its peaks, over 2,000 m high and snow-capped in winter, are crowned by glacial lakes such as O Celo or Lagoa da Serpe, with their purest, crystalline waters.

Following the GR-84 long-distance path, we pass through the Laguna de las Yeguas, also known as the Cubillas Lagoon or the Murias Lagoon. Located at 1,795 meters above sea level and at the foot of Peña Cabrita, it gives us a beautiful image.
