The Greeks call such a temple Tolos, a round temple. This is a tree stump encircled and taken. Respectful.

Definitely a highlight, but unfortunately, the castle was covered in scaffolding when I visited. The castle dates back to the Middle Ages but was later almost completely rebuilt.

A beautiful vantage point. If the season is right, there's also the opportunity to watch whales. The path further to Gaztelugatxe, however, requires pushing because it's very overgrown. We didn't go far, but turned around and drove back along the road.

When the Condor attacked, the residents of Guernica tried to protect the tree with their bodies because it is sacred to the Basques. Even today, elected politicians have to swear their loyalty to the Basque Country at an oak tree that stands a few meters away.

Cool castle, graceful as it stands there. By the way, a really beautiful hiking area.

Once in your life, you have to visit this place and enjoy the incredible views. Not without reason, the series Game of Thrones chose this wonderful place as the setting for its filming.

This cape is the most prominent point in Euskadi, located very close to the famous hermitage of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. If you bring binoculars, you can also occasionally spot cetaceans and seabirds. In addition, you will be able to see the current lighthouse as well as the old one, although only the tower remains of the old one.

This medieval castle is one of the most beautiful in Biscay. It is located in a beautiful setting, on a hill and on top of some rocks, and is surrounded by a century-old forest.

Impressive medieval castle located in the municipality of Gatika. It is located on a hill surrounded by nature, which gives it a magical and mysterious atmosphere. Currently, the castle can be visited to learn about its history and enjoy the panoramic views from the top of its tower.

Located on the spectacular cliffs of Cape Matxitxako between the municipalities of Bermeo and Bakio, the lighthouse offers panoramic views of the Cantabrian Sea. It is also a historical place, as it was the scene of several shipwrecks in the past and has a monument in memory of the sailors who died at sea.

Although the hermitage of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and its stairway have adorned this spectacular islet since the 10th century, it was not until the place appeared as a setting in the Game of Thrones television series that it gained great popularity. So much so, that it is necessary to get free tickets to access. The ascent to the hermitage consists of 241 steps and although the climb is arduous, it is well worth it. The views of the wild Cantabrian coast and the beauty of the isolate, considered a biotope, with its hermitage on top offer you an unforgettable experience.

Cape Matxitxako has two lighthouses. The old lighthouse, was built in 1852 and is no longer used. The new one is taller and much larger with space for the lighthouse keeper and storerooms. This is an interesting and wonderful place to visit with or without the lighthouses. The sea views are quite amazing and worth a visit.

Planted in 1742 to replace the Parent Tree. In 1839, the regent María Cristina swore the Fueros on behalf of Queen Isabel II; this was the last time this rite took place.

In Urdaibai, there are currently some 600 hectares of marshes, which present a wide floodable bed. The action of the tides, endows this ecosystem with a dynamic component with great attraction for its observation. It is a landscape that changes every few hours. The Urdaibai marsh is an ecosystem in which the influence of nature and the centuries-old practices of man merge as in few places. In an environment that at first sight seems untouched, the expert eye discovers a network of old stone and mud dykes (munas), structures for gates no longer in use, semi-dry areas for pasture (polders) and canals for old mills, which were built with wisdom and respect for the environment have shaped a landscape with a multitude of nuances.

The landscape that Cape Matxitxako offers is, in its most technical meaning, the best panoramic view of our coastline. As it is the northernmost cape in Euskadi, on very clear days you can see the Cantabrian coast and the French coast, although closer is the islet of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and Aketze to the west, and Izaro and the Ogoño rock To the East. Its privileged location, included in the Natura 2000 Network and close to several special protection areas, make this enclave an ideal place for the analysis of biodiversity, specifically, for the observation of seabirds and cetaceans. Of the two buildings that we see in its vicinity, the one above, the large one, corresponds to the new lighthouse, inaugurated in 1909 and which is currently in operation; The building that looks out over the precipice is the so-called old lighthouse from 1852 and which since 2014 has been converted into an observatory for birdlife and cetaceans.
