The grotto was originally called Cova des Coloms because of the wild pigeons that lived there. When the village priest erected a statue of the Virgin Mary here in 1920, modeled on the famous Lourdes Grotto, increasing numbers of people came to this spot to ask the Blessed Virgin for healing. This seems to have had some effect, as those who were healed left thank-you notes in the rock niches and laid flowers in front of the statue. In 1942, Saint Bernadette, who had known Mary from earlier, also moved here.

Easy to climb mountain with an interesting history.

Shortly after the passage to the Castell, a path leads to this mirador. The way there leads through a small arch and then along the wall. At the end of the path mine has a wonderful view and a beautiful view of the two table mountains.

The Puig Alaro can be reached on various hiking trails. Coming from the south I can recommend it here, https://www.komoot.de/tour/163159420/embed. Once at the top you can marvel at the Castell Alaro, furthermore you have a great view of the Tramuntana peaks, the fertile plain, the La Victòria peninsula and the Cap Ferrutx. On the descent, you can enjoy the best shoulder of Mallorca in the Es Verger farm.

Nothing to add to the view. Terrific! An absolute must! But if you like cake, you will also be rewarded here. Super delicious coffee and great fresh cakes as a reward.
