The thermal waters of Baños de Sierra Alhamilla are located in the village of Pechina, Almería. The spring emerges from carbonate rocks of the Nevado-Filábride Complex aquifer, with a constant flow at a high temperature (58°C). Benefits of the waters: Therapeutic: anti-inflammatory and analgesic (rheumatism, arthritis, neuralgia, trauma); antispasmodic and sedative effects due to radon. Dermatological: eliminate oil and dead skin, regenerate the skin; promote sweating and detoxification. Respiratory: beneficial for rhinitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, asthma, and allergies; thin mucus. It is a small town with traditional popular architecture, surrounded by almond groves and located between the Sierra de los Filabres and Sierra Alhamilla mountains. Part of the municipal area is included in the Sierra de Alhamilla Natural Park, a site of great scenic and ecological interest due to its abundant vegetation.

More recently (2016), the Tabernas Desert served as the setting for several locations in the series Game of Thrones. The scenes in the land of the Dothraki (season 6) and scenes on the gigantic steppe in Essos were filmed in the Tabernas Desert. Viewers of The Crown will see Charles and Diana visit Australia in season 4; these scenes were filmed in the Tabernas Desert. Several scenes from season 3 of La Casa De Papel were filmed in the Tabernas Desert and the makers of Penny Dreadful also came to this dry location for filming in 2016.
