Here you go through 2 tunnels to the entrance. Once you have passed the entrance, it gets a bit steep again and the path through the cobblestones is a bit uneven. But the climb is worth it👍

Quite an impressive facility. Compared to the ruins of the neighboring mountains, this complex looks spruced up, and there is also an entrance fee. Halfway up you can buy a drink or snack from the ticket kiosk.

The castle was built in the 13th century by Gyr von Stammheim (documented in 1252). Since 1253, the family consistently called themselves von Girsberg. After the family died out in the 14th century, the castle came under the control of the Habsburgs, who had high jurisdiction. David von Winkelsheim is said to be born here. From the 16th to the 18th century, the castle was mostly owned by Schaffhausen patricians. The castle is privately owned.
