Founded in 730-735, it belonged to the Benedictines from 762. In 899 the Hungarians ruined it, but the abbey rose again in the 10th century and was fortified. From 1441 to 1786 it was a commendation and returned to being an abbey in 1921. The abbey church took shape between the 12th and 13th centuries, to be substantially restructured in the 15th century; in the 20th century it underwent a series of restorations (1905-1914, 1932 and 1981). The vestibule is completely frescoed with the Inferno Cycle, the Paradise Cycle and the San Michele Cycle, works dating back to around 1450 and which are attributed to the workshop of Antonio da Firenze. From the vestibule you pass into the atrium, with three Romanesque naves, characterized by a massive 15th-century ceiling and 13th-century frescoes. Wikipedia

Castello di Brussa is a fraction of Caorle. The castle is very impressive and currently private property. During the Second World War it was intercepted and used as a base by the Nazis to control the area, being in a strategic position between the Tagliamento and the Livenza.

Ruins of an ancient place: these roads have been passed since the times of the Romans, the Lombards and Charlemagne, given that they are on the route that leads from the Tagliamento to the Piave. A beautiful oasis of history and nature, where you can also have a nice picnic among the waters and fields of the Tagliamento-Livenza. The tombs of the last Sbrojavacca counts are located in the sacellum next to the church

Built on a prehistoric "castelliere" and a subsequent Roman settlement, the castle of Cordovado was built around the eleventh century to defend the territory from the raids of the Hungarians. The favorable geographical position of the fortification, located near a ford of the Tagliamento river (hence the toponym “curtis-vada”) made it assume considerable importance over time, so much so that it became a subsidiary summer residence of the bishops of Concordia. In the sixteenth century, after the collapses caused by the violent earthquake of 1511, the current palace was built on the foundations of the ancient manor - Villa Piccolomini Freschi - of which the Freschi di Cuccanea counts and later the Piccolomini counts of Siena became owners by succession. . The two shielded towers and part of the very well preserved walls remain of the original structure of the castle. Inside the latter are the 12th century church, the 15th century agricultural palace, the imposing villa, the romantic park from the early 19th century and the medieval houses. www.turismofvg.it/dimore-storiche/castello-di-cordovado www.castellodicordovado.com

The Abbey of S. Maria in Silvis (so called because it was then immersed in an extensive forest, from the Latin silva) was founded around the first half of the eighth century. A.D. In 762, three Lombard nobles (Erfo, Marco and Anto) donated all their possessions to what was at the time a male monastery, making it prosperous.

Cordovado, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, is an ancient medieval village that has a well-preserved historical core: the castle, the area of the ancient parish church of Sant'Andrea and the area of the seventeenth-century Sanctuary of the Madonna and convent of the fathers Dominicans, which connect the oldest village, located in a fortified area, to the "Borgo Nuovo" built in the Renaissance period.

The Abbey of S. Maria in Silvis (so called because it was then immersed in an extensive forest, from the Latin silva) was founded around the first half of the eighth century. A.D. In 762 three Lombard nobles (Erfo, Marco and Anto), donated all their possessions to what was once a male monastery, thus making it prosperous. In 899 Sesto suffered the devastating invasion of the Hungarians, which destroyed it almost completely, but between 960 and 965 the abbot Adalberto II began the reconstruction work and the Abbey increased its power not only on the religious level, but also civil, so as to assume the appearance of a medieval castle, with its defensive system formed by towers and moats. In 967 Otto I, winner of the Hungarians and restorer of the Holy Roman Empire, gave the Abbey of Sesto to the Patriarchate of Aquileia. Subsequently, in 1420, it passed under the domination of the Venetian Republic, which granted from 1441 until 1789, the temporary entrusting of all the ecclesiastical possessions of the Abbey to secular prelates, cardinals who did not follow the monastic rules and who did not reside on site.
