Nice little ride

The Castagnola pass connects the upper Lemme Valley with the upper Scrivia Valley. The pass is located in the Ligurian Apennines on the border with the municipalities of Fraconalto in Piedmont and Ronco Scrivia in Liguria. The pass is connected by a provincial road that starts from Voltaggio and ends in Borgo Fornari. 590 m above sea level

In a sort of ring, from the Montaldero area you can cross the "soldiers' road", observing the characteristic stone artefacts, evidence of the work of the stonecutters, an ancient local tradition, passing near the now ruined Church of Santa Barbara to go down finally near the Tower with the remains of the castle.

Cycling from Isola del Cantone to Montessore you climb a fairly steep hill. On its top there is a pass with an intersection of four roads, from which you have a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. The sweat of the climb is amply rewarded by the view.

It is located at an altitude of 559 meters above sea level. Starting point for excursions towards Mount Tobbio

This towards the Castagnola is a climb to try, very beautiful and not very popular.
