The Cascata del Serpente is an enchanting natural spectacle immersed in the lush vegetation of the Ligurian Apennines. This waterfall, which takes its name from its sinuous shape, plunges with a suggestive leap into a pool of crystalline water. Easily accessible via a short hiking trail, the Cascata del Serpente is an ideal destination for nature lovers, offering a cool refuge on hot summer days and a perfect place for a regenerating break during walks.

The place is very beautiful, there are points where the path is not passable due to bad maintenance, especially at the beginning we turned back and by extending the route we managed to complete it.

Popular legends linked to its origin and age gather around the Rovere di Tiglieto. In fact, it was said that it had been planted by Napoleon's troops during the Italian Campaign. Other sources report that a horseshoe bearing the symbol "N", the imperial monogram, was nailed to the trunk of the plant. It is said that a Dragoon of the French army, passing through the area and forced to change his horse's shoes, wanted to leave a sign of his passage. Some old people in the town say that as children they saw iron sticking out of the trunk. Today, on the surface of the trunk, there is no longer any trace of it, perhaps completely incorporated into the bark.

Wonderful view from up here, with the refuge chapel useful in case of bad weather, or for warming up in case of low temperatures. There are various paths, usually you follow the 401 and from Voltaggio it takes about 3 hours of hiking

Ring of the Badia di Tiglieto is a suggestive itinerary between woods and the bank of the Orba stream. At this point there is a medieval bridge with a centuries-old oak. Splendid gorges and waterfalls can be admired along the way.
