The necropolis of Puttu Codinu ("rock well") is an archaeological site located in the municipality of Villanova Monteleone, province of Sassari, near the state road 292 that leads to Monteleone Rocca Doria. A necropolis with nine hypogeal tombs was found on the site, in an area with rocks emerging from the surrounding land. The tombs were found by chance during recent excavation work. These are mineral water sources naturally endowed with a light carbonation. You can reach it by temporarily deviating from the 292. The lay-by offers three taps, two directly in front of the road which offer moderately fizzy water, and one 50 meters further down with slightly more fizzy water and with more dissolved salts.

From here, you can admire the western coast of Sardinia between Alghero and Bosa. The color of the sea sparkles in the sun.

Be sure to drive when the weather is nice and ideally in the winter months...no traffic and ideal temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees

Within this locality you can find a typical Sardinian sheepfold with dry stone walls, the Tore Argentina, once used to defend against sea attacks by enemies, sa domo rutta, a former granary or warehouse now in ruins and infinite beautiful paths completely immersed in the Mediterranean scrub where you can breathe the scent of Mediterranean scrub mixed with salt.
