A former border station, a classic example of modern architecture, having become obsolete due to the expansion of EU member states. On the Italian side, the border building is very well preserved and used by the Alpini (Italian mountain troops), while the Slovenian building is dilapidated. On the Italian side, there is also a monument to a distinguished Alpini soldier.

A saddle with a pleasant clearing, as you cycle through the forest on both sides. There's also a very well-preserved and well-maintained wayside shrine at saddle height. An ideal place for a short break.

The itinerary represents the ascent from the western slope of Mount Matajur, the most bucolic and pastoral that crosses the wildest sceneries of the territory. The departure is in the center of Pulfero. A short transfer to the next town, Loch, along the Natisone Valley, allows you to reach the start of the climb that leads to the Glevizza pass, at an altitude of 997m. A long, tortuous climb, immersed in silence, often in the woods when not in open clearings among the rocks. It crosses the towns of Mersino, famous throughout the Natisone Valleys for the Carnival celebrations. Pristine place and in the past linked to sheep farming and pastures, of which there are still some traces of shepherds' stables and shelters. The climb then takes you over a narrow concrete road carved into the rock at the Glevizza pass. From here a short descent on asphalt allows for a breather before the final ramps. After Montemaggiore, the road climbs again up to the Pelizzo Hut. Departure: Pulfero, Bar Cafeteria Da Francy, Via Roma, 77 Arrival: Pelizzo Refuge Length: 17km Elevation gain: 1219m

Great view to village Livek and mount Krn ( 2244m ) and mount Batognica ( 2164m ). The effort to overcome the altitude meters is repaid :-) If you come from the Italian direction, the fairy tale of views of the Julian Alps and the emerald river Soča is just beginning!
