The Volturno Springs mark the beginning of the longest river in southern Italy: the water flows from a karst cavity at the foot of the Meta massif, forming clear and always cold natural pools. Monte Marrone is a mountain in the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. It is famous for having been the scene of a battle between the Alpini and the Germans during the Second World War.
