The Perino Waterfalls trail is one of the most evocative routes in the province of Piacenza. In its middle course, the Perino shows its most rugged connotation. From the source it is rather slow and calm, but right here it suddenly narrows into a narrow gorge. It is precisely at this point that the most evocative part of the valley begins, as the rock, strongly stratified, has a dozen jumps, which the torrent overcomes forming as many natural waterfalls, the highest of which reaches 17 meters in height.

The route starts from the Church of San Lorenzo in Calenzano, a hamlet of Bettola, you can leave your car in the car park indicated by the signs. The route is supported by CAI trail 155 signs (white and red signs and stamps) for the entire route, except for a short section on the return. After passing the Le Cascate farmhouse, you reach the first waterfall, which cannot be visited due to landslides, and then the ancient Riè mill. The path always continues clearly for all the other 5 waterfalls. Once you reach the last waterfall, you leave the track which continues straight on to briefly turn left and take the dirt road which, at the end of the ring, returns to the starting point. The hiking itinerary has a linear development of approximately 7 km, all on dirt roads or paths. Travel time approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

One of the characteristic jumps of the Perino waterfalls. the route goes up the gorge, very well traced and is quite simple to follow. We recommend footwear suitable for a trekking route. To descend to the base of some waterfalls, steps have been dug between the roots and the ground, in these cases a trekking pole may be necessary. In some places the route is equipped with benches and parapets. During the excursion I found some sections where the path collapsed, to approach the waterfalls be careful and choose your supports carefully.
