A nice little pass, not too steep.

The hill of S. Giacomo is the first one you come across while following the tour in this direction, it is the point of separation between the Tanaro valley and the Mongia valley. It is a good panoramic point, made suggestive by the beautiful little church, it is also located at the end of the longest flat stretch of the entire tour, a couple of km in the shade of fir and chestnut trees, it is also a crossroads of paths and dirt roads (indications of numerous MTB itineraries). The only flaw, there is no fountain for water supply!

An almost completely unspectacular pass. Virtually no view. Creepy abandoned ruin just below the summit on the south side. The inn (Belvedere) seems to have been closed for as long as the Belvedere on the Furka Pass. ;-)

Ascent immersed in magnificent woods

Ideal in summer because under the majestic beech trees the temperature remains cool

The climb from Calizzano is excellent as the splendid beech forest that you cross before the hill, as well as rich in mushrooms, is also splendidly shaded. Sometimes bumpy road, but regular and not excessive slopes.
