13 meters deep in such a tiny mirror!!!

Small artesian lake 15 meters deep and with a diameter of about 25 metres. There is a legend about the suggestive body of spring water. The story on the border between legend and mystery tells that the lake was formed following the fall into the abyss of a farmhouse of a greedy old farmer, named Chiarò, who on the day of Saint Anna, decided to thresh. It is said that Chiarò was not careful to observe the religious calendar and its holidays while his wife was a woman with a charitable soul. While the farmer was threshing together with his workers, his wife was warned by the voice of an angel that she had to flee because she would drown. While the farmhouse sank together with her husband, the woman ran away with her children in her arms. She realized she was being chased by the water and at that moment the angel appeared to her again and advised her to abandon her youngest son because as he grew up he would become greedy and stingy like his father. The woman managed to save herself and right where the child was abandoned the smaller lake called Aisillo took shape.

The cross at the summit of the Sasso Piano (Croce di Sasso Piano) at 1124 m stands on a grassy saddle and offers the hiker a breathtaking panoramic view of the Umbrian landscape and the old town of Assisi at its feet. There are also beautiful views of Monte Tezio and Monte Acuto (N-W), Perugia and Lake Trasimeno (W-N-W), whose reflections are only visible in the afternoon, the saddle of Torgiano (W), the wooded hills of Bettona (W-S-W ), in the background the Martani Mountains (S-S-W), on the Bevagna (S) and Foligno (S-S-E) valley sections. The large, massive limestone boulders on the plateau appear to have been shaped for the use of hikers, who find this an ideal place for rest and reflection. "Cities, villages, castles, churches, farmhouses, rivers, streams, blue forests, lonely peaks, rich pastures, gentle olive groves, arduous plains appear from above as if in the magic of a vision" (Arnaldo Fortini).

The Porta Nuova is located in the southeastern part of Assisi, the impressive old town with its old churches and medieval buildings. This impressive, old historical building represents one of the eight city gates.

Colle San Rufino, located in the northern area of the Monte Subasio Regional Park and a stone's throw from Assisi, offers breathtaking views of the city, Mount Subasio and the Umbrian Valley.
