The aging bird watching hut was demolished in late summer 2024 by trainees from the state forestry service and rebuilt under the guidance of their instructor. Many thanks!! Also to everyone who worked to make this possible. You can observe numerous water birds from here, especially in the afternoon. Tip: Don't forget your binoculars!

When hiking through the Schlaubetal, you feel as if you have entered another world. The paths meander gently along the Schlaube, sometimes right on the bank, sometimes a little higher up through the forest. The dense trees cast a soft, green light on the path, and the gentle rippling of the water accompanies you step by step. Here you feel alone with nature, without the constant noise of civilization. Instead, you only hear the cracking of branches under your feet and the occasional call of a bird. The old trees in particular, which sometimes lie across the river, seem to tell stories from a time long past. The small wooden bridges and railings convey a feeling of security as you continue along the water. There is something calming, almost meditative, about the silence that surrounds the valley. It is particularly charming when you pause in one of the clearings to take in the peaceful scenery. The beauty of the Schlaubetal lies in its simplicity – no major attractions, but pure, unspoiled nature that reveals itself to hikers on silent soles.

The Schlaubetal valley captivates hikers and cyclists alike with its wild, romantic scenery. On this section, the Schlaube meanders through a deeply cut valley, with the steep slopes towering majestically above the path. The hiking trail leads directly along the bank, accompanied by the gentle rippling of the water and the roots of the old trees clinging to the embankment. The route is particularly inviting for a quiet exploration in spring, when the leaves shine in the soft light, or in autumn, when the paths are covered in golden leaves. But the valley also shows its unique facets at other times of the year. Despite the tranquility in the valley, the closures due to swine fever remind us that nature here is not only a place of relaxation, but also of change.

The numerous mills along the Schlaube, which keep the history of the region alive, are particularly attractive. The Schlaubetal combines nature conservation and gentle tourism in a harmonious way.
