The four hills were built in the Middle Bronze Age (after 1500 BC). Over time, they fell into oblivion. It was only towards the end of the early Iron Age (Hallstatt period) that around 500 BC A woman and a girl are buried again. After the archaeological excavations of 1932, the rectangular structures in hills 3 and 4 were interpreted as houses of the dead. From today's perspective, however, these are bronze age grave borders. The stone structures of the other two hills are also typical of the Bronze Age. Almost all objects found come from the graves in hill 1 and date them to the end of the early Iron Age. Bronze Age arm rings were only discovered in hill 3.

Oak forests are home to an above-average biodiversity. Especially dependent on old oak stands is the domestic spotted woodpecker. In oak forest reserves, its habitats are protected in the long term by protecting part of the old oak trees and creating new oak stands. The oak is an ecologically very valuable tree species. Their coarse-barked bark is home to numerous insect and spider species. That's why old oaks are so interesting to the middle spotted woodpecker: this insect world provides food. Because the demand for oak has declined over decades, regrowing oak forests are rare today. The still existing old oak stands, the last habitats of the Middle Spotted Woodpecker, are ready to go. The harvest of these old oaks is therefore limited within the framework of 50-year oak forest reserve contracts and new oak stands are established.
