The ride through the famous Via Mala Gorge is a true highlight for road cyclists. The narrow, winding road winds spectacularly between steep rock faces, combining a challenging ride with impressive scenery. The asphalt is well-ridable, but you should expect tight bends, changing light, and heavy traffic—so it's best to ride in the early morning or late afternoon. A quick stop at the viewpoints is worthwhile to experience the magnificent views down into the gorge.

The panoramic view of the Graubünden mountains is simply incomparably beautiful.

The restaurant is the entrance to the Roffla Gorge. The entrance fee of CHF 4 is well worth it. You can also enjoy a fine meal at the restaurant after the tour. The wooden tables in the garden restaurant come from the restaurant's own sawmill, and the awning in front of the restaurant comes from the restaurant's own spinning mill.

Gentle and flat to the east, steep and somewhat exposed to the west. This is how the pass between the Heinzenberg and the Safiental appears.

Scenic and historical insights, interesting. Cool treasure hunt for the kids. There are not that many parking spaces, but there is simply not enough space in the gorge.

This gorge was more impressive for me than the Viamala gorge

Many parts of the gorge can also be enjoyed without paying an entrance fee. There was surprisingly little traffic on the road (Saturday midday in August), and it's easy to drive.

The central part of the inn was built in 1632. Essentially, it was a residential building in which the living room also served as a dining room. Another important date is 1885 when the then owner Andreas Melchior enlarged the stable and added a dining room. Since the inn was not profitable, Christian Pietschen Melchior emigrated to America in 1890. In 1901 he returned, took over the inn and began planning a rock gallery in the gorge. The work was carried out from 1907 to 1914.
