The Puerto de la Ragua marks the border between the provinces of Granada and Almería. The Sierra Nevada stretches on both sides, with the 3000m peaks on the Granada side. The highest mountain in the province of Almería, El Chullo, is, however, easily accessible from the Puerto de la Ragua. The Puerto de la Ragua is just over 2000m.

The climb to the Vela Blanca hill is done along a gravel track until reaching the top of this small peak located on the Almeria coast, in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park. A small detour next to the road gives access to the lighthouse and the viewpoint. It is worth the climb, barely a kilometer, but quite hard, to be able to enjoy the views.
